Dear Friends,
One of the most serious humanitarian crises in the world is happening in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a result of years of conflict, millions of people have been killed or driven from their homes. Many are living in temporary shelters in camps.
We contacted our friends, Phil and Christine Detweiler, who are serving in Congo with Medair, and asked what we could do to help. Medair is a Christian agency whose purpose is to save lives and relieve human suffering in the world’s most difficult-to-reach and devastated places. They are providing shelter, medical care, food, and whatever else they can to relieve the suffering of these internal refugees.
Phil and Christine told us that there is a great need for latrines and showers in the camps, and whatever funds we can provide will enable them to purchase the material needed to build them. We have already sent $5,000 and hope to be able to provide an additional $5,000.
Please help us assist Phil and Christine and their colleagues in Medair to bring some measure of hope and healing into the lives of these suffering people.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Alec D. Brooks
